Mushroom Chair Style - DC96

Pierre Paulin the creator of the mushroom chair studied stone carving and clay modeling at the Ecole Camondo in Paris. Pierre started to design furniture for Thonet in the early fifties; however in 1958 he became the designer for Artifort. This is where he created a series of sculptural chairs using inner structure of steel tubing covered in foam fabric. The elegant technique was used to help create the beautiful Mushroom Chair. Not only an eye catcher but the Mushroom Chair creates a comfortable and pleasing seating experience which also allows the user to have full freedom of movement. This beautiful handcrafted item is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
